Screen Hides Litter Box.
Using a screen that hides the litter box is a nice way to stylishly camouflage the litter box when it is out in the open.
Sometimes kitty wants the box in a place that may not be esthetically pleasing for the humans that inhabit the home. Using a screen to hide the unsightly litter box can be the solution.
Another way to hide the litter box is to use cat litter furniture. Cat litter furniture is furniture that has a built in litter box. They can be camouflaged as a large basket, a planter, even a table. There are many clever unique litter boxes available.
Some cats do not like an enclosed space for their litter box. Especially if there are any problems with aggression in a multi cat home. The cat using the cat litter furniture may feel trapped into a corner and may not use an enclosed litter pan. Make sure when acquiring cat litter furniture that your cat feels safe enough to use it.
When using an enclosed litter box hygiene is of utmost importance. An enclosed box will trap odors much more readily and considering that cats have a nose approximately 100 times more sensitive than ours, keeping the box odor free is key to keep kitty using the box instead of your rug.
Using a cat litter screen may be a better choice when you have large cats, when you have a multi cat home, or a cat that is finicky with requiring a clean box. If you have a cat that is prone to going outside the box, the more open set up with the litter box screen versus the litter furniture may be a better choice.
Having a hidden litter box is certainly possible even when the box needs to be more central in your living quarters.
For odor control, frequent scooping is a must especially when there is more than one cat using the box. Generally it is recommended to have one box per cat plus one.
That means in a 3 cat home, there should be 3 boxes plus one for a total of four.
If you have less boxes than that, consider scooping twice a day. Not only will you be rewarded with less odor, but your cats will love to use their box.
Using a cat litter that has odor control, such as Arm’s and Hammer will go a long way in controlling the odor, so will a dietary change to a grain free raw diet.
