 Heathcare for Cats.

Deciding on heath care for  cats is becoming a topic that takes both knowledge and some indepth research.

With the many advances in veterinary medicine, treating a cat for an illness, a disease, or an  accident can get quite costly.

It is no wonder pet insurance is increasing in popularity.
Insuring you pet for medical expenses can be a life saver.  When your cat has fallen ill it is enough to deal with the emotional ramifications. Having to decide on whether your cat gets the appropriate treatment based on finances is an added heart ache no pet owner should have to endure.

Many pet insurance companies offer a variety of affordable plans. Read the fine print carefully and decide on what is important for you. Do you want coverage for chronic long term conditions?  Medications?

Read and learn about the exclusions of your plan.

Not only do different pet insurance companies have different exclusions, but they can also vary between different types of policies.

Read the exclusions very carefully. These are the items the pet insurance company is betting on that you will need, or, they may be too common, and too costly for the company to include.

The most common exclusion is the “Pre-Existing Condition”  What that basically means, that if your cat or dog already has a condition, such a s diabetes, the insurance company will not cover expenses of the illness.

Read carefully to note whether you will be covered for complications that may arise from a pre existing condition.

Other exclusions may be breed related. Such as hip dysplasia in Golden Retrievers, dental procedures, vaccinations, spay and neuter, flea and heartworm preparations.
You see, there is a lot to think about…

Some pet plans have their own network of veterinarians. You may not be able to use your own, and the nearest veterinary office of a participating vet may be some distance away.

While there are many considerations before deciding on a plan and believing you are covered for something, just to have a painful awakening when you really need for the insurance to cover the expenses, careful attention to the details, maybe with the help of your own veterinarian can get you the plan will provide heath care for cats and dogs that fit your needs.
