Cat Sickness Symptoms.

Cats depending on their being well as a survival mechanism are experts in hiding when they are not feeling well or in pain. If your cat is acting like she is not feeling OK, chances are she is NOT feeling OK.

Here are some general signs that your cat has some form of sickness:

Change in routine or general behavior - If your cat usually meets you at the door when you come home from work, but abruptly stops this it could be a sign that something is wrong with kitty.

Is your cat suddenly spending a lot of time in the litter tray, no longer begging you for food first thing on a morning, or, begging for food acting hungry when it hasn't in the past? Any change, no matter how minor could be a result of a medical condition

If something is wrong with your cat, chances are good that his eating habits have changed. Many sick cats refuse food altogether, which can lead to dehydration and a serious liver disease, hepatic lipidosis which can be lethal. Your vet needs to know if your cat has stopped eating. A non-eating cat is considered an emergency by many vets due to the many complications that can occur.

Also, a severely increased appetite can indicate a thyroid problem, and an increase in thirst can indicate all sorts of health problems from diabetes to kidney failure

A change in the amount of water kitty is drinking. Excessive thirst can be signs of diabetes, or kidney disease. Both of which can be either cured, (diabetes can very often be cured by switching the cat to a diet without any grains) or, with kidney diseae, your cat can live for many years to come with some dietary, herbal and homeopathic support.

Coat appearance and quality. - Cats are by nature fastidiously clean & spend a great deal of their day grooming. Poor, lackluster coat condition can be caused by a multitude of problems, from parasites to malnutrition to skin disorders (such as ringworm, fleas, allergies). The older cat may have problems maintaining it's grooming regime due to pain caused by conditions such as arthritis or obesity.

The fact is that may cat sickness symptoms mimic each other.

That can make cat sickness diagnosis very difficult for someone that is not a professional. You might think that it is obvious that he has one thing and start treating him with a home remedy that someone has told you has worked when it reality he has a completely different cat illness. For that reason, cat illness diagnoses are best left up to the professionals.

Some home remedies can be very effective, but in order for them to work, the diagnosis needs to be correct. If you have ANY concerns that your cat is sick, see you veterinarian for a proper diagnosis.
